More about our Pop Up Pub

As you know the POP-UP White Lion was on duty at the Whitchurch Hill fete on the 23rd May.

We had a great time serving all the thirsty folk at the fete, and once again thank you and a BIG round of applause to our Volunteers who staffed the Bar.

Emma Burdon, Jan Cottam, Beth Westcar, Julie Giles, Karen and Cath, John Crompton, Chris Whatmore, Richard, Ivan, Adrian, Alex and Paul Greenwood.

Now a few more names to mention-BIG thanks to-

Simon Pritchard for his Bar, help with the Supplies and the awning.

Jon Hatt for the Straw bales.

Ivan for the extra awning to keep the super Bar Staff ‘cool’

Chris Whatmore for the loan of his Fridge as our version had ‘Issues’

Phil Mason for the price boards, artwork and helping at the Bar

Ged O’Brien (Wot! More Birra Moretti!) and Fiona O'Brien for help with the ‘Set up, Take down’ and stints at the Bar and other logistics

Chris Hurst (now known as ‘The Iceman’) for help with the Putting Up- Taking Down, Ice collection and helping behind the bar

AND FINALLY- Peter Dragonetti for all his help, encouragement and his trusty Land Rover and Trailer for logistics

Why we do it!

Our Bar team in action

Thirsty Fete 'Go-ers'

To run our campaign, we hold a ‘Fighting Fund’

This pays for the Website, the domain name, the encrypted Email service and protected data base, also any fees that crop up for maintaining the White Lion Crays Pond Community Interest Company we have registered.

It also pays for Leaflets; Leaflet drops and marketing such as the sign shown above.

We added a fantastic £551 to the fighting fund from the profits from the POP-UP PUB.

We also contributed £230 to the Fete Committee funds.

Thank you all for supporting the Fete and

'The POP UP White Lion'

Our Aims.

Get The White Lion property in Crays Pond reopened as a community pub and so much more.-OR

Work with any responsible plan to reopen the White Lion as a Pub so it can be a commercial success.-AND

Support SODC with rejecting any Planning request that does not allow the White Lion to reopen as a Pub as their own planning protocols dictate.

The Pub

A Poem -Written by John Brooks 24/08/2022 A Pub is a confessional, where secrets are told and shared, where souls torn and bared. A watering hole where ideas ebb and flow, friendships are strengthened
